Beta
Delta Chapter -
Univeristy of California, San Francisco
Greetings
Psi Omega members, from the beautiful city of San Francisco.
Despite frequent fraternity social outings in the city by the bay, the
members of Beta Delta Chapter of the University of California San Francisco
are as active as ever. Celebrating our 100th Anniversary since the drafting
of the charter for the Beta Delta Chapter in 1903, the fraternity has
posted the largest number of active members and organized events within
recent memory! With approximately 70 members, our chapter has shown
enthusiasm and focus in developing fraternal unity and in having fun
with social events and community service.
Our chapter's core is based in a classic, century old Victorian mansion
generously donated to the fraternity in the 1920's for a whopping dollar.
Not only does this house provide an affordable place to live for 18
members but it also makes for a great place to host fraternal meetings
and social events. The presence of previous Beta Delta fraternal members
cradled by the house over the years is evident in everything from the
age stained photographs adorning the walls to recent renovations afforded
almost entirely by generous alumni donations. Our chapter President,
Matt Kennedy, has spearheaded these restorative efforts over the last
three years. Presently, both the yard and the entire first floor, with
the exception of our kitchen, have been completely renovated. Together
our efforts have helped our chapter to increase the freshman rush class
from 10 members in 2000, to 30 members in 2002!
Dental school can be stressful, so our Beta Delta Chapter responds by
having as much fun as our free time will allow. Our parties, dinners,
and weekend excursions are renowned within our University. Our Psi Omega
members have the reputation of being the school's most fun-loving and
socially active students. Some of the annual events organized by our
chapter include: First Year Initiation, Halloween Party, New Member
Dinner, Pub Crawl, Beer Relays, Alumni Cocktail Party, Ski Trip, Camping
Trip, and Senior Farewell Dinner. Additionally, we provide students
with a comprehensive test pool, morphology waxing kits, clinic reference
cards and lab tutorials given by upperclassmen and faculty.
We would like to welcome our Deputy Councilor, Dr. Robert Huntley. He
replaced Dr. Edward Taggart who, after many years of dedicated service,
has assumed the role of Province # 1 Councilor. In addition, saying
farewell to our seniors signifies another changing of the guard and
the new leadership stands ready to move forward. Jerad West is our heir
apparent; his immediate goals for the next year include increased member
involvement, development of community service projects, renovation of
our kitchen (to provide a new space for our beloved cook of 30 years
Bob Daley), and an increased effort to involve faculty members in academic
oriented events. The future of our chapter is amazingly bright!
