Halloween Party

Beta Delta
University of California
San Francisco

The 2008-2009 school year started off with a bang at the Beta Delta Chapter in San Francisco. We celebrated the beginning of classes with our annual Welcome Back Party and a toga theme. Following the welcome back party, 14 high-quality first and second year dental students were initiated into the Beta Delta chapter. These new recruits have proven themselves to be excellent student dentists, dedicated and energetic fraternity brothers and sisters, and challenging Beer Pong competitors. We welcomed these new members with yet another party on Halloween and a Post Mortem dinner to a local steak house. Beta Delta welcomed the New Year with our annual ski trip to South Lake Tahoe. Thirty-five people showed up on this trip to ski and snowboard on the slopes of the California Sierras.

Beta Delta continues to give back to our community and our young student dentists. One night each quarter the chapter volunteers to provide free dental work to the homeless. Many of our members also volunteer at events such as Give Kids a Smile and health fairs through Children’s Health Hut where kids are provided sealants, dental screenings, or oral health education. The upper classmen also help out our young brothers in the lab with waxing, tooth morphology/identification, cutting preps and making temps.

The coming Spring will prove to be full of life with a fraternity camping trip to Fort Bragg on the north coast of California for a weekend of abalone diving, spear fishing, hiking, and biking. Other coming events include the Bay to Breakers race across San Francisco (clothing optional), our Cinco de Drinko Flip-Cup Beer Relays, and the End of The World Party.

Our gigantic Victorian fraternity house, now over a century old, continues to serve us well as the glue of our prosperous fraternity chapter. House members live well with our amazing Chef Eddie cooking dinner each night and preparing lunches. The Dean of the dental school even stopped by the house and shared in one of Eddie’s feasts. The house has also witnessed the completion of a new bathroom in the basement and a new water feature in front of the house. As always, our home is open to all who may be visiting the City by the Bay.
