Happy Holidays from Minneapolis! The Zeta Kappa chapter welcomed four new first year residents to the house this summer. Shortly after, in the beginning of September, we hosted our annual rush week. The week was complete with a breakfast one morning, a BBQ at the house one evening, and the first year party on the weekend.

Initiation was to follow in October. We of course sported the Psi O robes and started the night with our initiation ceremony. We had food catered in to compliment the wine we served, and then a party bus picked us up for a night of fun around Minneapolis. One stop included a local “Oktoberfest” in a huge tent at a nearby German bar called Gastof.

For a fundraiser, we again sold safety glasses to fellow dental students at school. All proceeds were donated to the local community dental clinic, The Union Gospel Mission.

As of late spring, the new simulation clinics/ labs at school are up and running for the first and second year lab classes. And the junior and senior students even had a hand at trying the new equipment out when they took the typodont portion of the CRDTS boards this fall in the lab. The new manikins with cheeks, nose, etc. are quite the change from the metal heads we worked on in the previous labs!

We underwent some changes at the house this fall as well. Water damage led to the complete remodeling of one of our two shower units. New tile, shower heads, and of course some good tunes, really spruced the bathroom up! We’re enjoying the new look and function.

As the semester comes to a close, we’re all looking forward to a little break. We plan to return from break to our annual Lutsen trip, the “MN mountains and ski slopes” a few hours from the Cities here. We usually rent a place on the slopes, do a bit of skiing and even more socializing. Thirty of us have signed up to go so far, so we’re expecting a great turn out!
