Phi Rho -
Univeristy of MO-KC

The 2004-2005 year has been another great year for the Phi Rho chapter of the University of Missouri - Kansas City. We are excited to report the completion of the first year of our largest pledge class in recent history. Forty-five new members of the chapter were inducted early in November. This class of rushees has shown a wonderful amount of drive and desire that has helped to spur us on to a year of activities with a high level of overall chapter participation.

This year, we put great effort into revitalizing the social activities of the chapter. Early in the school year, a victory at the First Annual Psi Omega Olympic Imitations (better known as the Beer Olympics) over the local Xi Psi Phi chapter was a major success. Students competed in a variety of events to prove once and for all that our chapter could drink beer, play trivia, yank in tug-of-war, throw washers, run races, and achieve great Olympic feats with the best of them. Other first semester social events included a pool party, the Signing Day Lunch, the Oktoberfest Winery Trip to Herman, Missouri, Initiation Dinner at the Greek restaurant Tasso's (featuring live music and plate breaking), a stein party, and a chapter-wide happy hour at a local bar.

After holiday break, we had our most successful social event, our Casino Night. Students from the whole school and faculty members came together to play No Limit Texas Hold-Em, blackjack, roulette, and high stakes poker in a fun environment that allowed everyone to just have a good time.
Other second semester social activities included a hospitality room for the 2005 Bushwhacker formal dance, more happy hours, and the Senior Send-Off and Wine Party at our faculty alumni Dr. Brian William's loft.

Along with our social events, our chapter participated in a variety of service activities this year. These included preparing a dinner for families staying at the Ronald McDonald House, collecting soda pop tabs for the Ronald McDonald house, holding supply drives for Children's Mercy Hospital, participating in the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation Walk to Cure Diabetes, and providing free oral health care to underprivileged individuals at the Kansas City Free Health Clinic as dentists and assistants.

After celebrating the fortieth anniversary of our chapter, we look forward to maintaining our high level of participation and activities for all our members in the year to come. We wish everyone the best and give a special "good luck" to all our graduated seniors. You will be missed.

Zeta Kappa -
Univeristy of Minnesota

Greetings and Psi-O-tations once again from the University of Minnesota's Zeta Kappa Chapter of Psi Omega! Since our last Chapter Check-In, we are pleased to tell you that our 40 active members had a great spring! Besides our monthly house meetings, our chapter had some really fun fraternity activities, including the Wine and Cheese Mingler, the Beers Around the World Party, and the fraternity paintball outing which helped our chapter prepare for the all-school Frat Olympics, (which we won this year, by the way!)

In conjunction with this spring's Minnesota Dental Association "Star of the North" Meeting (our state's annual scientific session), the active alumni chapter hosted a joint reception at our Psi Omega Chalet for all past and present Psi O's who got to check out our chapter house' new bathrooms, new dining table, and our sleek new Compaq Presario computer for the chapter house' computer room.

Our incoming board for next year is very excited for rush this fall, and we actually have a waiting list of students who want to live at the house!

The Zeta Kappa's In Minne-snow-ta wish everyone a great summer. Until the next Chapter Check-In, we'll Psi-O-all later.

Sigma Chi -
MUSC

The guiding principles for the Sigma Chi Chapter, located in Charleston, South Carolina, are a triumvirate of Philanthropy, Social, and Academics. As we plan our activities, we try to incorporate these values in each event we host.

This being said, we are happy to report that 2005 is off with a bang. There is no better way to jump into January than by initiating 16 new members in our picturesque campus chapel and following it up with a celebration at O'Reily's Pub. In February; over 40 Psi 0 members lent helping hands to programs such as Special Olympics, Give Kids a Smile Day, and local free dental clinics. Taking our desire to give back to new heights, many of our members spent a week in Venezuela providing oral health care to those in need.

Our Second Annual Fishing Tournament at Bristol Marina was a huge success, with over 30 participants and a fabulous party afterwards. Sigma Chi raised over $3,600, from which we donated a large portion to our philanthropies, three free local dental clinics.

The Senior Banquet was a unique experience, complete with skeet shooting, saltwater fishing, an award ceremony and, of course, "Uncle Doc's" BBQ. A Sigma Chi Senior Banquet would not be the same without Dr. Jimmy Rivers' grilled masterpieces!

We plan on keeping the momentum going by offering freshmen study breaks from summer gross anatomy. Between Kickball/Dodgeball tournaments, post-gross parties, and random happy hours, they will have the opportunity to relax and mingle with upper-classmen.

The highlight of the fall will be our annual Casino Night. In keeping with tradition, we will donate proceeds from ticket sales and the silent auction to our selected philanthropies.
Sigma Chi is especially excited about our two newest fundraising campaigns. As a service to local college students, we will begin working with Kaplan Testing Center to administer practice graduate entrance exams. Our second fundraiser will have a tangible impact on the MUSC Dental Community - Psi Omega will initiate efforts with other MUSC dental organizations to raise significant monies for our new dental school (expected to be completed in 2008)

On behalf of the entire Sigma Chi Chapter, we want to thank Dr. Albenesius for his kindness and support and the Executive Board for their dedication and hard work. We look forward to an event filled 200;, and an even better 2006!

Jennifer Hirsch Doobrow, ('07), President

Zeta -
University of Pennsylvania

Spring is always a busy semester at the University of Pennsylvania School of Dental Medicine. The first years are burning the midnight oil in the Restorative Dentistry lab, the second years are agonizing over stacks of Pathology notes, the third years are realizing that they are about to be fourth years, and the fourth years are anxiously awaiting their future lives in Dentistry. The Zeta Chapter kicked off the Spring semester activities with a study break to help everyone through the month of February. The Chapter gathered at the Zeta house on Super Bowl Sunday to watch the New England Patriots beat the hometown Philadelphia Eagles on our big screen TV. Soon it was back to work as upperclassmen offered tutoring to the first year students for Restorative Dentistry and the second year students received e-mail tutoring for Pathology. The Chapter found the e-mail format to be very effective in clearly and concisely communicating the answers to Pathology questions.

As the semester went on, we pledged a few more members to our fraternity and we held Spring Initiation for the entire pledge class of 20042005 at the Restaurant School at Walnut Hill College. The chapter was treated to a gourmet meal on a dental student's budget. Several chapter members were present along with their families and our Deputy Councilor, Dr. Arthur Steinberg.

Thank you to all of those members who organized and participated in the event. We offer our special thanks to the Restaurant School for making this a memorable event two years in a row and donating space to perform the Initiation Ceremony.

The school year drew to a close after many days and nights studying, practicing, and pushing ourselves to the limits. Time soon came for elections and several officers announced that they would not be able to run for office again as they were taking on larger duties in other organizations. Thank you to Eris Rruka '07 and Carolina Garces '07 for their tireless efforts in organizing the fraternity, painting/weeding at the house, working with PGW and moving the Zeta Chapter in the right direction. Your leadership will be greatly missed.

Zeta chapter is on the move and continues to work hard to be the best fraternity at UPSDM. Keep on the look out for updates about construction/repairs at the Zeta House. Thank you to Jeff Robinson for already taking a great initiative in this area. Also, stay tuned for our upcoming community service project in the fall!
